While wasting time and screwing around on tvtropes.org, I came across the fanfiction page. And that led to the fanfiction recommendation page. And that, in turn, led to the LotR fanfiction recommendation page. What is listed thereon? Why, it's 'The King's Surgeon', by our very own SurgicalSteel!

Wow -- and on the TV Tropes site, no less! Conga-rats to you, Steel. Holy crap, I just spent the better part of an hour on that site, too - my only familiarity with it prior to this was from FandomWank. Damn, that site is an easy way to kill time.

Congrats, Steel! And, fwiw, I agree with assessment therein wholeheartedly! It was just freaking bizarre to see myself on that list, esp. given being thrown off of SOA and having my OFC referred to as a Mary Sue who's an asshole. Thanks, Elfscribe! - and OMG, remind me to read your Lord John fic - I'm a Gabaldon fan, and am just about to start 'An Echo in the Bone.'

Congrats, Steel! Revenge is sweet, isn't it. The tv tropes site is new to me, but oh, yes, I can see that it has potential to suck up time. Nonetheless, I learned a lot in 10 minutes of cruising around the fan fiction trope. For example, that among favored slash pairings are Megatron/Starscreamer (Transformers) and Cartman/Kyle (South Park). The latter is quite hootworthy: "You will respect my a-THOR-uh-taaaay!"

Elfscribe - the comment was in a review on SOA, so I somehow think the mod agrees with it. Veering off topic, I started 'An Echo in the Bone' last night and Lord John pops up quite early in the story and I was all *gasp* *flail* because he's a fantastic character. And he has really, really crap luck in love. Pande - damnit, I spent way too long farting around on that site yesterday afternoon. I'd heard of it through a few postings on FandomWank but hadn't actually visited. You could easily kill several hours there, I think. Oh, and yes, revenge is sweet.

What. People have written Sesame Street Bert/Ernie slash. No lie. www.yuletidetreasure.org/archive/43/whysex.html
