Would the Laiquendi have Sindarin names? I found my Muses adding a family of these reclusive Elves very briefly in my story and realized I had no idea what their names would look like, so I defaulted to Sindarin. I do not know any Elvish to make up names, but I want the father to be called something like "man of green, son of green", the mother "lady of peace", and the child "son of fear".

Ardalambion has a corpus of Nandorin words; unfortunately neither "green", "peace" or a definite form of "fear" are listed. It might be possible to construct something from PE or the etymologies, but I'm not familiar enough with the sound shifts to build credible Laiquendin names from the extant material. Sorry.

Not a problem; not sure how many people are familiar with this group. I might just stick to the Sindarin names I chose for them. Thanks.

Most welcome. Though Darth Fingon at the very least is quite savvy in Tolkien linguistics, and there might be others able to help you out, though.
Alternately, of course, you could pick and choose other names from the list above (that is, unless your characters aren't objecting. I know mine are picky in that regard).

Thanks; I looked it over, and yes the Muses are picky. But things can change...

LOL -- not Sindarin per se, although I do have an empathy with the Silvans of Mirkwood.
I'm no linguist, but there are some Nandorin words at Ardalambion. My dim understanding is that the name of Legolas is more Nandorin derived than it is Sindarin.
As a general rule, the Green-elves were more into nature and things like that. so when I have to name a Laegren (Nandorin) character, I choose nature things like trees and leaves usually.
First important question -- what Green-elves are you talking about? Where do they live and when? That makes a difference.

First important question -- what Green-elves are you talking about? Where do they live and when? That makes a difference. Well, the Nandor of Denweg's folk, who later crossed into Doriath with his son Denethor. First Age period. I exploited the whole Orc origin thing by saying that Morgoth raided their isolated villages to make his Orcs and that was why they moved into Doriath, seeking protection. Lainanu lost his son in this manner. I was using a name generator I rather liked because you could pick what you wanted the name to mean from lists, but it has been taking down. I would like to keep the father's name, Lainanu (supposed to mean man of green or something). I still am iffy about the wife and son's name, I'll look at the Ardalambion list again.

What name generator did you use? Darth's name generator and flowchart is about the best there is.

actually, Lainanu is supposed to mean free man/son/lord, not green
