For my current project, I am going to have a few weddings. Two of them are Noldorin ancestry, one being notably for an OFC who is a granddaughter of Fëanor. Taking a little liberty, and perhaps stretching the craftiness of said Elf, I want to include the accordion as part of the musical ensemble. I've no linguistic skills, but I have been thinking of a possible name in Quenyan. Words taken from Council of Elrond:
bend—cúna (verb, intrasensitive) crooked--1.) hwarin (adjective) 2.) raica (adjective) 3.) rempa (adjective) 4.) cauca (adjective) music--lindalë (noun) twisted—nauca (adjective)
So, something like bent music, crooked music, twisted music is what I'm thinking. If I understand basic sentence structure, something like lindalë nauca? I'm not creative enough, ha. I don't need this for some time, so no rush.
Advanced thanks.

Giving it a Quenya name seems a bit unnecessary to me, but if you're dead set on it, maybe something based on 'squeezebox' might work? Only because 'crooked music' is kind of an odd name for an instrument. If you look at instrument names in natural languages, the actual word 'music' doesn't crop up often; the only example I've found is dulcimer, which might be from 'sweet tune'. But they generally derive instead from the material used to make the instrument and/or some quality of the sound it makes – horns were originally made from horn, for example; oboe is from two roots meaning 'high' and 'wood', bassoon is from a root meaning 'low', piano(forte) from 'soft(loud)', clarinet traces back to 'clear', and so forth. Or in some cases they're named for the person who invented them, like the saxophone and dobro. 'Accordion', 'concertina', 'harmonium', and some other instruments in that general family have names deriving from words meaning things like '(in) tune' and 'harmony'; I can't find 'harmony', 'accord', or 'concert' glossed in Quenya, but maybe something like 'melody box'? Which I think would be lincolca, but I'm not 100% certain that I've done the compounding right.

I like your suggestion, grey. I might end up defaulting to accordion after all, or your other ideas. Thanks.

I've seen the accordian referred to as the "Stomach Steinway", but that's no help at all, just amusing...
