Darth, I need to know the meaning and etiology of the word/name Aranel. It is the name of Dior, Thingol's heir. Some also use the word to mean 'princess'. What exactly does it mean, and can it be used for either sex to denote an elf of royal blood?

In either language it could mean 'king Elf' or 'king star', and these would only be names, not generic words that could be applied to anyone.

Thank you kindly. That means I wasn't as much of an idiot as I thought.

Okay, I am exceedingly tired at the moment, and that seems to bring out the most juvenile aspects of my sense of humor, but I'm picturing certain of the Noldor referring to Dior as 'Aranel' knowing full well that there's a double meaning to the name and snickering about the double meaning. And that has me snickering, too.
