I have a question for you, Darth, or anyone else who may me more versed in Quenyan than I - which is just about everyone, probably. I can't find a word for "Uncle", not in Darth's lexicon, nor Fausganger's nor Thurston Renk's wordlists. Darth, you used a word in "Further Shadow..", the first chapter, where Itarille refers to Fingon as "taror". Is that "uncle" in Quenya? Or would the proper familial reference be, "my fathers'/mother's brother?" And the converse, the word for "niece"? ... And speaking of "Further Shadow" (however obliquely) is there any chance the next chapter (and hopefully what happened between Itarille and Glorfindel) will be appearing any time soon? Thanks in advance for the assist! Will keep watching for more "Further"!

Darth, you used a word in "Further Shadow..", the first chapter, where Itarille refers to Fingon as "taror". Is that "uncle" in Quenya? Or would the proper familial reference be, "my fathers'/mother's brother?" The word taror that appears in FS is one I made up to mean 'uncle', and it's specifically 'father's brother'. You're welcome to use it if you want. Just stick a note in your story that it's an invented word with no canonical basis, so other people don't go using it and thinking it's legitimate. You could use toriel or hániel for a brother's daughter, and nésiel or selliel for a sister's daughter. Again, these are words made up by me. Yeah, it's on my list of things to finish soon... Ideally, I'd like to have the next chapter done before the end of the month, but we'll see how realistic that goal is.
