Wandering minstrels singing angsty "no one loves me and I'm so misunderstood" songs, ahoy!
I know canon proper doesn't say much more than Daeron left Doriath to wander around Eriador and compose mopey odes to Luthien and to sulk about how no one but the Dwarves appreciated his Cirth and was never heard from again... but for the sake of argument fanfic, is it plausible, or even at all possible, that he might have eventually gone over the sea at some point? Or is it a pretty safe assumption that, no matter what else happened to him over the years, he stayed in/on Arda?
Thoughts? Ideas? Smiths lyrics?

Since he is not mentioned again, I think it is fair that he could have a whole complicated life after he leaves the written account and do anything a writer can convince us stays in character. I personally prefer to think he eventually sailed. Is nice to think he got over moping over Luthien and had a less frustrating reason to keep on. But I don't have that Sindarin-lover hang-up about the romance of fading either.

I'd agree that you can do whatever you want to the poor guy.
You can have him mope forever (thereby inspiring generations of teenagers to paint their bedrooms black and wear strange clothes) or sail off into the sunset when he realises no-one is going to listen to yet another melancholy ballad about Lúthien ;P

Daeron's one of those characters that has no 'canon' fate. Very hand for fanficcers, as it means you can do anything you like with him! So send him sailing if that's what you'd like to do. Clodia wrote a lovely story along those lines recently ("Nightingales and Starlight") which is posted over at the SWG Archive.
