I know there is a long standing debate on whether there was a singular character of Glorfindel or two. I prefer the one Glorfindel / reborn theory personally, and would like to know approximately how old that character would be around the time of the ring since he was present . . .
Anyone?

That depends on whether you count from his original birth date or his date of reissue. No one knows the original. Or the reissue for that matter.

And that would explain why after endless searching I have been unable to find an answer to that of any type. TY Randy - I don't feel nearly so ignorant now . . . I'm just back to my typical stupid southern self now. ;D

really really OLD! ;D
Depending on when you count him being born... but even then, I don't think we have a date for him. I assumed he was an adult when the Noldor left Aman, and that's pretty long ago from the time of the Fellowship. Born probably during the Years of the Trees, and then depending on how much time he spent in Mandos (do those years count?)... well, like I said. He's freaking ANCIENT!

Like Galadriel -- really, really old. We know Galadriel was born in Aman, because the marriage of her grandparents took place there, but who's to say that Glorfindel was not even older?
There are so many of Tolkien's elves for whom we have only an approximation of age based on events they took part in.

I believe somewhere it alludes to the fact that Glorfindel saw the light of the two trees in his first life. However, whether he is reborn, as I ascribe also, or not, there is still a question of whether he returns or is born, in time for the 'last alliance of elves and men' or arrives on the scene some time in the third age.
