Attention, Jael!
I came across this while working out consonant combinations for the Sindarin Name Generator.
Following conventional rules, Oropher can be created from orod (mountain) + fêr (beech). The DF combination becomes PH. Thus Orodfer -> Oropher.

So he's 'Mountain Beech' rather than 'Tall Beech'?
Edit: By those rules, would Fêrion be 'Son of a Beech'?

It is at that! Clears up a puzzlement for me. This is why I rely on you for all my Sindarin needs. It's just too complicated.
