Um. So. All right here we go:
Tolkien came up with a gnomish word for hermaphrodite gwegwin which is directly translated as man-woman (thank you darth fingon, I like to read your list of strange words when I'm having to transition from night shifts to morning shifts because it makes me ponder.)
Would the quenya then be, going along that line of thought: nérní and in sindarin (sindarian? It's 1 in the morning): dîrinu ?
