Someone reviewed a drabble I did asking me why I thought Curufin's wife stayed behind in Valinor. My reasoning was that she was never mentioned in the Silmarillion after they left and Curufin seemed to be traveling without her. When Celebrimbor repudiated his father's deeds and did not follow him when the Celegorm and Curufin were expelled from Nargothrond, she was not mentioned either. In my reasoning that was because she was not there. I *think* I read that she did not go into exile with him but I'm not sure where I read it. Does anyone know for a fact if she went? I know she wasn't named in the Silmarillion or HoME.

Someone reviewed a drabble I did asking me why I thought Curufin's wife stayed behind in Valinor. As far as I can recall, no mention is ever made of her in any way. All we know is that Curufin had a wife, but her name and what became of her are never specified. However, that's just what I remember, and I may have missed something. Maybe do a search-and-find through the electronic HoMEs for both Curufin and Celebrimbor and see what comes up?

I've been doing that in HoME and so far I can only find stuff about Curufin and Celegorm. Celebrimbor isn't mentioned until Nargothrond. I'm still looking though. I did read on Wikipedia that she didn't go to Middle-earth but you know how unreliable Wikipedia can be.

Ooh, where can I find these electronic HoMEs, please? I do own the physical books, but I've got them at home - right now I'm at uni, and that's about 8 time zones away. I have the main texts (LotR, Silm, Hobbit) in electronic form but researching Silm. characters and events has been a royal pain without the HoME books. I couldn't find any e-books to buy, either. :/

That's excellent - I'm joining that group right now. Thank you so much for the heads up! I've been stuck on my writing because I keep thinking I need to look things up in the texts I don't have. The group will be a great help!

Turns out that the reviewer had never read HoME because it seemed like 'too much work'. Her/his words, not mine. *headdeskthud*

I've been looking for info on Curufin's wife too for backstory to "Rings of Pride and Ruin", but I haven't found anything. I think that so long as you don't cause her to change the course of events, you're fine. I had her and a daughter get killed on the retreat from Himlad to Nargothrond. That way Celebrimbor can be born in Middle-earth but his mother doesn't go anywhere she is likely to change history. It also does a little to fix the gender imbalance in the house of Feanor... but left behind in Valinor does work nicely.
